Is nature only ruthless and uncaring when people aren't making it MORE so?

6.8 Billion sounds like a large number of people. Until you look at the size of the earth. We are nothing. If you fly over vast expanses of the earth you will see mostly... nothing. If you put all the people on earth in a big pile, we wouldn't make a cubic mile. Other than in very small areas where we're concentrated, we are utterly insignificant.
