What does Deathcore have to offer that Death Metal doesn't?

I don't understand why so many bands nowadays want to do Deathcore over Death Metal. Many of my friends eat this music up, but every time I listen to a Deathcore band, it just sounds like people who couldn't play Death Metal so they just removed all of Death Metal's technicality and replaced it with a **** load of breakdowns. If you are a fan of Deathcore, please enlighten me as to what makes Deathcore more appealing to listen to/ play than Death Metal. I don't understand why it is so much more popular (in the US anyway).
