What's the meaning of Stephen King's Misery's title?

I believe that it's reflecting on the pain, suffering, and misery Sheldon experiences with his time with Annie Wilkes in her cabin. I'm not entirely sure if this is the only meaning it could have, so please give me ideas and any help on the subject. Thank you!
