Why is money becoming more and more of a temptation?

Actually it's having the opposite effect on me. When I was about 9 years old I wanted nothing but money but once I became a teenager I saw how much of a brainwasher it was and what a terrible thing it was. People lose their lives all the time because of money. Honestly it's just a piece of paper. The only reason I'm looking for a job is so I can get out of the house more because I'm bored. I'm 16 years old and in my mind you'll never be free if all you care about is money. Money is what's holding us all back. It's holding you back from quiting your job and going on those travel trips. But I'm just a 16 year old right? What would I know.
