I am considering modular home on acreage...?

I have been living in a 7 year old modular home now for 3 years, so I guess it's 10 years old now. Your right, you do get more bang for your buck but the downside is that site built homes appreciate somewhat more in value over time. That's not to say you would not get more than you paid for it if you sell, just not as much appreciation as site built house. But if you intend to stay there or are not looking to make a bundle on a resale then it's right for you. Best advice, put it on as much land as you can afford, at least the land will appreciate at market rates.
