Does humanity, change so much over time to where they almost take on a whole new identity?

So many things change over time, I mean changes in teachology, the increased population and urbanization of the world, the increased loss of innocence and the realization that the world is getting meaner and that people are finding more creative ways to do bad, evil things, that it seems almost as though , every few years, the human species reinvents itself, to where they are like an entirely new species of animal in an entirely new environment (even though, of course, they ARE still the same species, Sapiens). It's almost as though it's like the ogy of a moose. If a moose were to be transferred from the Arctic tundra to tha Amazon Rain Forest, and experience an entirely different environment, with an entirely different set of variables for what is existent in that particular environment and what was realistically possible for what could exist in that environment, then, of course, biologically, it would still be a moose, but, existentially, would it still be a moose, I mean the same moose it was when it wasin the Arctic tundra. I see this as evident in the change of tastes over time. For instance, in music, in the 1940s, there was the joyful exuberance and optimism of swing music. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, there was the gentle, laid-back, romantic innocence of songs like "Going Out Of My Head" by Little Anthony and the Imperials, "Cherish" by The ociation, and all of The Fifth Dimension's music. Today, there is the hard-edges, darker realism, often pessimism, of music by artists such as R. E. M., Nine Inch Nails, and U2.But why is it this way? It's not that different generations are technically unable to write music in a certain style. U2's songs could easily have been written in the 1940s (I mean, the basic melody line, lyrics, and mood of the songs, with minor changes reflecting the lack of electric guitars). No, it's that the ATTITUDE is different. People of different ages have a different mind, a different mood pervades, a different ambience and reality is present, much likea difference between cloudy dampness and warm sunniness. The thing is, as far as tastes like this go, they seem to pervade SOCIETY AS A WHOLE, as though they are a part of ALL of us, like a whole new organ with a whole new function in each of our bodies. It's almost like, every few decades, we redefine the world, and redefine what WE are.
